Sanity is restored (if only briefly)

Greetings all,

I thought I'd quickly jot down a small blog for all those who are suffering an overdose of broad Australian accents, youthful exuberance and bad spelling. At least, I'm hoping that my spelling will be better :).

Time is rapidly running out for those who must needs return for the beginning of a new university semester and sadly, it is only now that some sense of normalcy is returning to the schedule at the BEC. As Jonno explained so eloquently, there has been some movement towards reviewing the old contact list with a view to revitalising its contents. This has yielded some results, although time will tell whether the responses on the phone are a real indicator of interest. We did however receive a visit from a very old contact, LeungSeng, which should give James Rass some nostalgia.

The great admin and maintenance extravaganza I ran this week was a limited success. I'm counting a limited success as beter than a failure, so it's fair to say that some things got done. I'm pleased to report that the contact database has been renewed and updated with all available data and the Armes' useful teaching matrix is in the midst of being updated with a couple of new resources. I'm hoping Sammy will get through that before she departs.

Josh and Sarah have just arrived and are very helpfully offering to be very helpful. As of yet, I have not had a chance to take advantage of their helpfulness and only limited work has been offloaded on them to date. Tommorow will see an offloading the likes of which they have never contemplated. I hope they have the necessary fortitude.

Miriam is in Siem Reap which has provided a fantastic opportunity to sleep without Tabitha in the room. Funnily enough, the Boo woke up last night and whinged so much I had to take him into my bed. He's grumpy this morning and is missing his Mother terribly. Fortunately, Dani is taking on a new role as the domestic at BEC while Loy moves onto a more administrative role.

Dorm students did a short test on the LRTBE course (at their own request) and despite one confusing question, quite a lot of them managed to score more than 70%. No-one got less than 60%. My Sunday School class in Aus - beware!!!!!!

Time to sign off, but God willing, I'll have more soon.

Michael

Seems like there is a lot to report, but it shall have to wait a little longer

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
