The Girl's Bible Study Weekend Last Saturday afternoon/evening & Sunday morning the BEC was abuzz with the sounds of GIRLS! The Purpose? Build stronger friendships, focus on what sisters can do, discuss girl-related issues and plan for a regular Girls/Sisters Class. The Program? “Making Friends for Eternity” “What God is Looking for in Women – a character study of Mary the Mother of Jesus” “Relationships with Men” “Worship Service – Godly Love” We also enjoyed a group prayer session, some exercise at the Olympic Stadium, late night (early morning) chats, and some absolutely delicious food lovingly provided by Sis SreyPov & other willing helpers. I thoroughly enjoyed watching the girls and sisters working together, thinking together, praying together and making an effort to include the shyer students... putting into action the things they were studying. ...

I arrived in Phnom Penh on Sunday 2 nd June and was immediately impressed by the heat and humidity having just left a South Australian winter! I was met by Sis Nirath and taken to the PP BEC where I quickly settled into a regular teaching routine with an early morning, afternoon and evening session most days (depending on attendance). I also had several day trips to visit such local attractions as the Toul Sleng S-21 prison and Choeung Ek Killing field from Pol Pot’s era, the national museum and the royal palace which were all quite interesting to me. On the 5 th Sis Trudy arrived and Sis Nirath and I met her at the airport so that she was greeted by familiar faces. After Trudy arrived the three of us took a boat trip down the Mekong river at night time to see the lights and experience the cool breeze, which was quite pleasant. It is wonderful to arrive after a rain in tropical countries, to be met by Sister Nirath and Bro Aaron Smith at the airport is even more so. It is good to see familiar faces in a foreign country. The ride in a Tuk Tuk to the BEC was fun. Treacherous…. But fun.  Really depends on how you look at things, like crossing the road with thousands, well, hundreds of bicycles, motorcycles and Tuk Tuks flashing by, like watching a motorcyclist motoring past you when it is evident that the lights have turned red and your side of traffic light has already turned green, like going over holes the size of boulders and nearly overturned, hmm…. Arriving in the evening is good as you get to see everyone starting to come into the BEC or come back to the BEC and was quickly swamped with hugs and warm welcomes only a family provides.
