Men & Women Bible Weekend

The Girl's Bible Study Weekend

Last Saturday afternoon/evening & Sunday morning the BEC was abuzz with the sounds of GIRLS!

The Purpose? Build stronger friendships, focus on what sisters can do, discuss girl-related issues and plan for a regular Girls/Sisters Class.

The Program? “Making Friends for Eternity” “What God is Looking for in Women – a character study of Mary the Mother of Jesus” “Relationships with Men” “Worship Service – Godly Love”
We also enjoyed a group prayer session, some exercise at the Olympic Stadium, late night (early morning) chats, and some absolutely delicious food lovingly provided by Sis SreyPov & other willing helpers.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching the girls and sisters working together, thinking together, praying together and making an effort to include the shyer students... putting into action the things they were studying.

So the feedback from everyone was... “Let's do it again!” It seems like the best option in this environment is to share a weekend together, including the fun of a 'sleepover'. So the plan is to have another Girls Weekend in August. This time it will be based at the Dorms and organised by Sis Chantry & Sis Phab.

May our loving heavenly Father bless these sisters and girls as they grow together in grace. Sis Melinda

                                                                        The Men's Class

Last Saturday afternoon, we had Men's class at the Bethezer dormitory where all the brothers and boy dormers can spend time together in purpose of Building Relationships, discussing the solutions to problems that men share, and also discussing how each of us as a brothers can help our Lord's Ecclesia (Brothers & Sisters).

The first session started at 1.30 pm with Bro Him talking on the topic of Men (Sexual Relationship) which mainly encouraged brothers and boy dormers to take God's commandment to put in practice in their sexual relationship because it will protect them from sexual immorality and more importantly to please our heavenly father. Such as  Not to have sex before get married, have only one wife,..etc.

After first study finished, we took a rest for about 15 minutes and started study 2 with Bro Veasna Big, his topic was on "Leadership". He started to ask four differences question about Leadership.
1. What is Leadership? "Definition of Leadership"
2. What does the Bible say about Leadership?
3. What are characteristics of a good leader? and
4. How do we develop leadership skills?

So with these four questions, bro Veasna went through his explanation very well a long with his slides show including picture to identify and help to understanding of lesson as well. Everyone  enjoyed it pretty much.

After study two finished at 3.30 pm , all men started to help each other with cooking stuff, cleaning, washing, charting during working, because we had to prepare our dinner at the dorm. It was really really good time and good attitude of sharing men's  roles together. However real men like doing exercise, so after dinner, all men went to a soccer place to play football together under a light rain from the sky. It was really fun and had a best time ever to be present in God's creation of all things, especially, the water under beneath fallen from the sky.

Fresh new morning on Sunday, everyone looks tired because from the exercise last Saturday night, but everyone was OK to keep going. We started our third study on "How to be a real Man? "with Bro Vitou. I started with handing out a work sheet to everyone to answer a three questions in it.

1. How to be a real man?
2. How to be a good man?
3. How to be a gentle man?

I gave them 20 minutes to answer those questions, after that i went through my preparation on main point of that topic. After finished, everyone wanted me to write all the main points of how to be a real man and put them at the dorm so they can check everyday.
Finally our program ended with Memorial Meeting. Bro Vitou

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
