Bible school to Sihanoukville

The title of a blog or a story of any kind is always difficult, because when writing one does not know what direction it would take. My trip was like that in many respects. I got here, expecting to be helping in Phnom Penh, but after bible school came down to Sihanoukville. I left Australia after the evening lecture at my home ecclesia. I was uncertain as to the length of time I would be away, (It has changed and may do so again) and headed to Brisbane airport. After saying goodbye to Dad and mum at the airport, I waited there for a while before getting on the plane to Kuala Lumpour en route to Phnom Penh Cambodia.  I got to KL and had a short break before my trip, on a crowded plane to Cambodia.  Bro Vitou picked me up from the airport. I went to lucky star and joined bro Zac’s class for the seminars. I stayed with them for the rest of the seminars. We briefly went for a tour of the BEC, no strange place to me, as I had stayed there on my last trip. Then we had an excellen...

Bible School Event

Illustration 1 : Cambodia Bible School attenders 2013 Dear All Would you like to know how to successfully run a Bible School where there are people from India, the Philippines, Myanmar(Burma), Thailand, Korea, Cambodia, England, New Zealand, Australia and America – with varying levels of English language expertise?  Like to know how to make a Bible school that is a preaching and international fellowship building effort work? Come to Cambodia! The 2013 Cambodia Bible School finished on Monday 18th.  It was quite different to the Bible Schools I usually go to – part of the preaching, not just a 'maintain what you have got and build brothers and sisters up' event. The speakers were brother John Elton from Sydney and brother Phil Gilmore from Perth (your nephew, brother Barry).  The topic was Energising Vision...

BEING A TRUE SERVANT

ANTICIPATION!! The three of us who knew what was coming, waited with a sense of anticipation for the brothers class to start, it was to be a beautiful joining together of listening to Gods word, and then following through with action, our aim in our lives to be true servants. We know faith without works is dead,  James 2:20 King James Version (KJV) 20  But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? and that: James 1:27 King James Version (KJV) 27  Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. SETTING THE SCENE Bro Zak lead us through a talk, clearly spelling out to us about our responsibilities to serve one another as disciples, and what a wonderful privilege that is when we consider Mathew 25 v34-40 and other passages, he also reminded us that we must do good to all men, and especially to tho...

Hello again from Bro Kim

Welcome back to the two BECs in Cambodia. What an exciting time. Young People are searching for God, which is exciting and uplifting for us from the Western World, in which people are turning away from God in droves. I am in Sihanoukville teaching at the BEC2. It has been good to see Dy, Srey Pov, Savy and Theung again. Whilst the Sihanoukville Ecclesia is small in number, it is big in heart. Being my fourth visit, you would think that it would be easy for me to slot in where I left off. Well God had other plans for me, He does this sometimes. On my way down in the minivan, my camera was stolen. I don't own too many things in life but one of the things I enjoy doing is taking photos - my theme for my photography is ' God did all the hard work, I just pressed the button ' All Glory must go to God because he has Created such beauty throughout the world. So it was very hard for me. I applied some western thinking and had the minivan stopped. This did not sit too ...

Sunday School in Cambodia

On Wednesday we decided to have a Sunday School training day and the first time we learnt how to make a lesson plan. After we made the lesson plan then we found the material to make some teaching aides for the children. We drew pictures from the Bible storybook. I had an idea to rotate the teachers among 4 groups of children. This means that each teacher will teach the same lesson over 4 weeks. We will all share the resources we have made. We have 45-50 children in Phnom Penh now, which is really exciting. We had teachers Ratana, Sokhorn, Veasna, Davy and Tut to learn about teaching and also some of the dormers came to help with the preparation. We enjoyed lunch together at BEC and then at the end of the day we all went out for a snack together to have some fun after all our hard work. Vitou decided to start a Sunday school in Kampong Speu, which started 3 weeks ago. At first there were about 20 children. The second week around 70 and last week we had over 100 children. Br...
