On Wednesday we decided to have a Sunday
School training day and the first time we learnt how to make a lesson plan.
After we made the lesson plan then we found the material to make some teaching
aides for the children. We drew pictures from the Bible storybook. I had an
idea to rotate the teachers among 4 groups of children. This means that each
teacher will teach the same lesson over 4 weeks. We will all share the
resources we have made. We have 45-50 children in Phnom Penh now, which is
really exciting. We had teachers Ratana, Sokhorn, Veasna, Davy and Tut to learn
about teaching and also some of the dormers came to help with the preparation.
We enjoyed lunch together at BEC and then at the end of the day we all went out
for a snack together to have some fun after all our hard work.
Vitou decided to start a Sunday school in
Kampong Speu, which started 3 weeks ago. At first there were about 20 children.
The second week around 70 and last week we had over 100 children. Brother Tut
and sister Davy teach the children but after one month two more teachers will
take over. We feel very amazed at this success so now we plan to have a better
idea of teaching and plan a storybook for the children. After Bible School we
will divide the group into 3 classes.
Now we are preparing the children in Phnom
Penh Sunday School to perform drama and singing for the Bible school. We will
invite the parents to come and watch also. We did this for the first time last
year and it was very successful. The
parents were very happy and excited to see their children’s talent and they can
see that we look after their children very well, especially when they see the
party that the children enjoyed.
