Occupied October!

Asking a brother in my ecclesia where I should go to help, then quitting my job and boarding a plane to a country I've never been to was the best decision of my life.  Many thanks to the WCF and the White Fields program for their support in this endeavor to preach the Good News.     It’s been amazing to experience how our Father and His Son are working on the other side of the planet from where I'm from.  And I'm more fulfilled than I've ever been.  The willingness and receptiveness to learning God's truth here in Cambodia is inspiring to say the least.  I'm teaching an average of 10 classes a day to an average of 60 interested students. And there's been two baptisms since I've been here! It's been such a blessing to experience the culture of this beautiful country while preaching the Good News to those that desperately need to hear some.  Although a third world country, God's bountiful hand is ever present.  And it...

Fellowship in Siem Reap

A large plastic inflatable swimming pool and bulky black hand pump are not usually items I choose to travel with, but as we load them onto the bus destined for Siem Reap I wouldn’t want it any other way. A bunch of us are travelling from Sihanoukville and Phnom Penh for a weekend with the little Siem Reap ecclesia. A weekend which will necessitate the use of said  blow up pool. A weekend with a baptism :) Thon stands outside the BEC, young daughter in his arms and wife and older daughter  nearby. The pool is almost full and the witnesses are gathered around. We have just  enjoyed a comprehensive seminar on baptism by brother Sophorn and now the much  awaited time has come. Thon is about to become our brother. A former colleague of  Sophorn’ Thon has been learning the truth for five years now and after recent Skype  baptism preparation sessions he has requested to join the global family of Christ. As he emerges from the water a new man in Christ ...

BEC Adventures by Bus, Plane and Tuktuk!

It’s time for the dreaded blog!  Usually Vitou gives me the nudge but this year it was Sophorn.  After about six weeks helping at the three BECs in Cambodia, it is almost time to head home for work and some family time.  Here’s the lowdown. To start I had a few days in Phnom Penh catching up with the ecclesia and fieldworkers new-to-me and familiar (go Jackie!) and making the obligatory trip to the Blue Pumpkin before being bundled into a snazzy bus and sent south.  The best part of the ride:  a pain au chocolat tucked into the seat pocket!  Although the curvy roads and rolling hills as we got close to the coast were pretty impressive too. This year most of my time, for the first time, was spent at the BEC2 in Sihanoukville.  I’m pretty sure that in this case BEC stands for Beach-time and Eating Centre!  In between classes Sis Chanthy took me to various amazing beaches to cool off and Bro Sophorn made sure I was well fed.  If you wa...
