4 Aussies, 4 Khmer, one Kiwi, one Yank and one Brit walked into a school...

A group of P2Pers and local Khmer went for a action-packed few days in the Provinces recently. 4 Aussies, 4 Khmer, one Kiwi, one Yank, and one fearless, faultless leader, the Brit! We visited Battambang and Sisophon, with a few village stops on the way and Angkor Wat on the way home. Under the guidance of the schedule organizer, Vong, our task was to try and infiltrate his organizational mind with limited skills in either language and find out what on earth we were doing next. We were constantly surprised as we turned up to a local school with 200 children waiting for us to expound to them the delicate and finer details of the English language. I exaggerate slightly, we did usually have 48 hours advance warning of what we were supposed to do, the only vital informations missing was how much English they spoke, whether we had any translators, or even how old they were! So, the majority of our planning was adapted on the spot anyway. We've all had regular feelings of 'oh crud, wh...

Jonno and Ren are ENGAGED!

Hello all :) After almost 4 weeks in Cambodia promising to write a blog, it's finally here! Esther and I arrived in Cambodia on 14th Dec to a buzz of excitement leading up to the P2P activities and the Bible School, as well as the recent announcement of Jonno and Ren's engagement! How exciting!! So less than a week into our trip we were on a bus at 4am with most of the dormers, Jonno's family, and a few people who had arrived for P2P, to the province of Kampot to share in the celebration of a traditional Khmer engagement party. The party was held at in Ren’s village, at her house. All her family, plus all the neighbours, were there to greet us when we arrived – the hospitality of all the Cambodians is beautiful. The ceremony was full of colour, smiles, music, at least 4 costume changes, fruit, food and many cultures coming together to celebrate the love of two people. The costumes were incredible! So ornate and detailed, with jewels and ribbon and silk - both Jonno and Ren ...

I have been engaged, Ren has been baptised, there has been P2P (which is happening as I write this very blog) and of course the grand bible school. So I arrived back in Phnom Penh with my Karen my Mother, Joel my younger Brother, and Jamin , Joel's friend on the 7 th of December. I had come from doing mission work in several other South East Asian countries. Mum, Dad, Joel and Jamin are still preaching up in Northern Thailand. so we spent a couple of days in Phnom Penh , showing them the sites ect ... Ren had told me when I was in Thailand that she wanted to be baptised. Bong Him has been saying he thinks she's ready for a little while, but the decision was up to her, and finally, before I had even arrived in Cambodia she asked for baptism. I was OVERJOYED!! Bong Him said to wait at least until I arrive. sh...
