ANTICIPATION!!
The three of us who knew what was coming, waited with a
sense of anticipation for the brothers class to start, it was to be a beautiful
joining together of listening to Gods word, and then following through with
action, our aim in our lives to be true servants.
We know faith without works is dead,
James 2:20

27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
SETTING THE SCENE
Bro Zak lead us through a talk, clearly spelling out to
us about our responsibilities to serve one another as disciples, and what a
wonderful privilege that is when we consider Mathew 25 v34-40 and other
passages, he also reminded us that we must do good to all men, and especially
to those of the household of faith. Galatians 6v10.
RESPONSE?
Now was the time for the brothers and young men to
respond, it was only at the very end of the talk they came to know, that they were
being asked to spend the rest of their day in service. How would we respond to
this?
Could they be willing servants, could they self-sacrifice?
Would we be able to respond to this in our countries, if
a bro asked us to do this at the end of his talk?
RISING TO THE CHALLENGE?
The Brothers and young men, more than rose to the
challenge, and with some of people being from different parts of the world, and
working together, we got a taste of the kingdom, how blessed we were.
A few of us, with some of our completed work:
The Brothers and young men set about the tasks with
great enthusiasm, and worked together brilliantly, there was no discussion over
tasks, they simply got on with it, each adjusting to the other, to make sure
the tasks progressed.
First we started cutting chopping slicing grinding (by
hand) washing preparing cutting, then when many Kilograms had been prepared of
vegetables and meat and rice, it was time to start the cooking, which needed
constant monitoring and stirring.

Bro Vitou, had made a trip out on his Motorbike, in
service, and bought some items of food, so these were then separated and
packaged up by the Brothers and young men.

NO!
Bro Vitou again went out, and came back with more items, again the same process, all the Brothers and young men working together in what
can only be described as a brilliant team.

NO!
Now we set aside a small amount cooked food for our own
need, and shared a delicious meal prepared and cooked by the very talented
brothers and young men. The rest of the food was kept for the poor.

Several times the process was repeated more trips out to
different places to bring different items back to increase what we were going
to give to the poor, funded by those involved and some funding from overseas.
The final task before finishing packing was to cut 100 meters of fabric into 1
metre lengths.
After hours of hard work, the welfare packages were
ready, and we could take them to the poor, the packages contained hot rice and
meat curry, bananas, a lollipop, orange juice, noodles, a tin of fish, a length
of cloth which could be used as a traditional Cambodian dress or type of
trouser, or as a scarf, towel or blanket.
We then headed out, by foot, by bicycle, and by motor bike,
to give out the goods to the poor.
We know that to be part of the one body, is a privilege
and a blessing, and we know that God wants us to be together, the sisters have
said they would like to do a similar thing next time, in helping the poor, so
it’s a wonderful opportunity for the one body to come together and study Gods
word together, and then as a body together, go and do good to all, also we
can provide a witness to non-believers when they can see us being the family of
God, doing things together.
