The Cambodian Bible School good experience

After Rathmines bible school I headed to Sydney airport. After a flight to china, where it was freezing, I went on another plane to Phnom Penh. After getting a visa I was met by brothers Sam Hallmark and Jordan Riley. They called our tuktuk driver, brother Tuth, who had been baptised a few days before. After a stop at the BEC to drop off my luggage, we went out to the bible school. It was held at the lucky star hotel just a few streets away. We saw in the New Year with a lot of dancing, and food. Then it was late when we went back to the BEC for bed. Next morning, my room managed to sleep through an alarm and missed breakfast. We hastily went to the hotel, arriving late. Just as we walked in brother Raju made an announcement about people being late. I joined the same group as Sam. Our group was behind, but with K and D translating we made good progress and finished our classes at about the same time the rest of the groups did. We had tea at the dorms and then we played a game of soccer with the dormers. The berang (westerners) won 11-10.
Wednesday we went to Tor Slang, the notorious prison. Most of the locals didn’t go. Then we went to the killing fields. There is not much interesting about a pile of skulls, but it emphasizes the fact that without God, man is truly desperately wicked. One of the busses broke down at the clock, and the group took our bus while we waited for another one, and also for more people. Even with our reinforcements, we did not fill up the bus. The local brother with us said we could fit 30 on the small bus, and I think he might have been right. We then went out for lunch near the Mekong River. After lunch we had a short cruise back on the river.  That night was when our speakers made themselves known to everyone. Their studies on Christ and the ecclesia were very uplifting. Remember we need to be like Christ and feel and heal other people’s sicknesses.
Brother TJ was sick on Sunday so Brother Kim had to represent him in the closing ceremony. After bible school we had a bowling game. I managed to epically loose in bowling, and then went out with K, and some other people. We ate a lot of meat and then went back to the dorms for tea. Monday was a day of doing various things, Sam and Jordan went down to Sihanoukville on the 1 oclock bus and met K who was riding his moto down. Steve and Kez left and we were sad to see them go. Yesterday was another day of sad partings as our long term teachers brother Luke and sister Jess Mansfield and sister Kiri left. The BEC is almost empty now, and I encourage you to come over to Cambodia and help us. Our limitations are mostly on our human teaching resources. Today we were busy again making up welcome packs for the preaching weekend at Sihanoukville. As lessons are in recess at the moment there is not much work to do, but that will change after the preaching weekend.

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...
