Vitou's Birthday

Last Monday was Vitou's Birthday. Being a Monday meant that it was everyone's day off except Vitou's! Even Dany had the day off to spent time with Vitou... so we told Vitou to take the day off as well. There is no point working on your birthday when you are the only one in the office!



In the evening a few of us went round the corner to Vitou and Dany's new house to celebrate Vitou's birthday with a few of the dormers. The new place where they live now is lovely, light and breezy, although there are a fair few stairs to climb and a few narrow balconies to manoeuver oneself along, but once there it is a lovely place with open space and a fairly large kitchen, two bedrooms, and three bathrooms!

Everyone had a great night, we enjoyed eating a lovely meal prepared by Dany, which consisted of Khmer rice noodles and a curry sauce of some kind with salad vegies.


After some talking and yes, lots of noise and chatter and yet more people arriving, the lights were turned off and Dany brought out two cakes smothered in a lot of luridly coloured icing. We all sang happy birthday to Vitou and then he blew out the candles, and both Vitou and Dany cut the cakes. After managing to cut the cakes into enough pieces ... somehow instead of the icing being eaten off the cakes, it was being scooped up and smeared on peoples faces, clothes, hair and anything else accessible!


Not only did Vitou end up with rosie coloured cheeks, and Chea having to have icing  extricated out of his ear by his mother, but Davy and Ratana were intent to have me covered in it as well... Ratana seemed determined to get it on my nose! So I honestly don't know how much cake and its icing got eaten but the evidence on faces, clothes, walls and floors would suggest not much! Nevertheless everyone had a great time and didn't seem to mind turning hot pink!

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news !
