Last weekend we had outreach once again. I'm not sure where the weeks go but it always seems to be outreach here! So we prepare all the rooms and wait and see who turns up. It can be tricky choosing a topic for the weekend as such a variety of people come: some who come all the time, and others that have only just begun and have no real knowledge of the Bible. This past weekend's topic was 'Following Jesus'. We taught about what it means to be a christian - a disciple of Christ: believing the gospel, conquering sin, living a new life, and becoming a member of God's family. We had eight or ten people come in from around the countryside as well as a few locals who joined in for the lessons.
David did the first talk which gave an introduction to the weekend. We skyped brother Adrian from Thailand, and he and Jin and Auy listened in as best they could over the skype connection. They could see the slide show so if they couldn't catch the audio clearly then they could at least follow the slides. It is the first time we have tried it, so after a few hiccups it seemed to work ok. It was great to have them taking part as well.
Saturday involved studies beginning from 7:30am (yes, nice and early this time), we had three studies in the morning led by sister Sithy, Bong Mina and Dy. After lunch and a snooze was the forth lesson, taught by Sophorn. Then everyone went to the dorm for the seminar, which David did on Citizenship in God's Kingdom. This was followed by a lovely dinner. Afterwards they all went for a trip to Riverside and had a walk and a stretch after sitting still all day!
Sunday was another early day with the study starting at 7:30am, this time the study was done by Vitou, about belonging to God's family. This was followed by the memorial meeting, which, to avoid coinciding with afternoon nap time, has now been rescheduled for 9 o'clock on Sunday morning.
