Farewell to Warren and Jeannie

We were very sad to say farewell to Warren and Jeannie today but so grateful that God blessed us with their company and help while Steve was unwell. He is nearly back to normal now - thank you for all your kind wishes and prayers! For those of you who know Steve, "normal" means lots of laughs and and many inspiring spiritual discussions. Thank you God.

Warren wrote some thoughts for the blog before he left...

Have you had thoughts about coming to Cambodia and maybe you have been a little apprehensive and undecided? Here are some comments on our experience. In regard to the facilities, the ACBM have done a great job in providing the accommodation. It is not much different from what you would expect at home, quite spacious and comfortable. Maybe if you are used to a soft mattress, you will find that a bit hard, but the air-conditioning is great and makes it very comfortable to sleep. The temperature is very constant, around 30 degrees at the moment and can be a bit sticky, especially when the power goes off. (a regular occurrence every day, for up to an hour or so.) Rice is served at every meal, but is tastier than at home, and is always mixed with a variety of other dishes, hot or not, to flavour it. I found that a mouthful of rice is the best thing to take away the sting in your mouth from a spicy meal. The teaching resources have been excellently organised by Steve & Lynne. Every student has a profile and a record of exactly what lessons they have been taught and there is a great resource library with an index that lets you locate very quickly information from eight different sources on any subject for you to teach. The people out on the street are kind and polite and you feel safe, even at night. The brothers and sisters are very loving and welcoming. The contacts are wanting to learn and very willing to learn, and you will receive more from them in their love of God and in their laughter than you can give and it is possible to receive the greatest joy ever when one you have been helping wishes to be baptised, as happened on our second last day here. If you can come for two weeks or two months or longer, it is an experience not to be missed.

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
