Thanks to our heavenly Father for his continuous blessing and his amazing grace
and undivided love pouring upon his children and his faithful servants,
especially his great work witnessing in Phnom Penh ecclesia, Cambodia. Thanks
Him for the privilege, opportunity and fellowship we brothers and sisters in
Phnom Penh, plus isolated brethren as well as BEC field workers had together
and learned His encouraging words with Bro Andrew Pitcher for our spiritual
benefits at BEC from 13th to 16th May, 2015 during Bible
Weekends. All together we had over 65 brethren to join a 3-day Bible study (6
studies), sharing meal, socializing and having fun activities included in this
program. We had divided all brothers and sisters into six groups to be in
charge of certain tasks as boosting their motivation as much as to make them feel
a sense of ownership involving in the Bible Weekends, not just being strange
participants. Also each study started by praising hymn and followed by worship
hymn which helped us to stay awake and be more energized for the whole Bible
Weekends.
In the late afternoon of Wednesday, 13th May, isolated
brothers and sisters arrived BEC and they had dinner cooked by Sister Loy who
is very much helpful person as well as with some help from other sisters. It
was a wonderful experience as we had all brothers and sisters join hands to
help since the very start to finish during these marvelous days. After dinner
finished, chairs and tables, and BEC big hall was ready to welcome brothers and
sisters from different angles of Cambodia. Bible Weekends was started by Bro
Sophorn welcoming and opening the program which later he handed to Bro Andy to
get started his first study, Introduction to Ezekiel. One hour study was
finished, refreshment was already prepared as for our physical food after
spiritual food paused for a while. During this, we were so excited to the
message through Ezekiel revealed to us by Bro Andy. Thanks God for his
unchangeable love and forgivingness to us to remind us his heavenly plan so
that we are, according to His will, able to abide to this great hope and share
with Him in His fabulous family. It reminds us about Israel a national of God
although they were cast away, God still keeps his promise and re-gathers them
back through His many unforgettable lessons. Last activity was “Praise Night”
to help lifting up our spiritual connection with our Heavenly Father and his
begotten son, our lord Jesus Christ. As time went by, first study was also
ended, we had only the last word of saying goodbye in order to refill energy
for the tomorrow 3-study respectively.
Second day stepped in, after a teamwork made breakfast ready
waiting for giving thanks to our God for his great care providing what we need,
we had this delicious food together. Then, we started Bible reading from
Ezekiel 33 a story about being a watchman. Figuratively, this was a wonderful
spiritual lifting encouraging us to be a great shepherd of God looking and
taking care of His sheep with great attention.
Again, Bro Andy shown us a clear message by characterizing qualification
of being a faithful watchman, how to act responsibly according to being God’s
workman. Following the study 2, Bro Andy introduced us to a similar theme study
3 “The Shepherd” which primarily focused on being elderly in ecclesia families
noting down things elders should do to grow their spiritual families as what
our Lord Jesus and our master has commanded us to do. One hour and a haft
lesson finished accompanying praising hymn to cheer up our spirit as we seemed
sleepy as nearly as lunch time. As soon, lunch made ready and we all had it
after a thankful prayer was done by one of our lovely brother. To make such
fellowship even more excited, we didn’t hesitate to start the study 3 right
away. Its title was “God Jealousy for his land” detailing how God had fulfilled
his promise through re-gathering His people back to the land He first gave to
them. Also Bro Andy highlighted how God acted upon a nation of Israel whom God
chose to be His first heirs. This took Bro Andy one hour to finish before we
sang hymn again and relaxed until our special buffet dinner at SPOON
Restaurant. Dinner was a great time to see so many brothers and sisters came as
some of them could not make it during the day time. We spent around 3 hours
having dinner, chatting, and sharing fellowship together at SPOON restaurant.
The time flied; bed time was approaching and we all seemed tired too, which we
had to say “Good night” and see each other again tomorrow Friday.
Dawn was coming, the sun rose high enough for us to clearly see
everything God has created. The last day to study with Bro Andy came to the
end, but it left with us two more studies to go, before we made our trip to Koh
Dach resort after lunch finished, were: study 5 “Modern Miracle of Israel’s restoration”
and study 6 the lesson from Ezekiel 38. Thanks God once again for His great
wisdom giving to us to understand how God’s promise with Israel is still
applicable today although many generations have passed by. His words through
the bible reveals to us His amazing plan for a nation of Israel as well as for
us choosing to follow Him. After 6 studies ended, we seemed to be filled and
encouraged due to the spiritual food helping us grow closer to our heavenly
Father and examining ourselves to be like Jesus. Lunch was ready, we were hungry as much as we
were heading to Koh Dach where we could swim and relax under the hut and
continued our fellowship with one another over there. Spending about 3 hours
playing, swimming, chatting, and eating and drinking, we headed back to BEC
where we had dinner and then football time. This was other wonderful time the game
we played which there were two courts: one court for all the boys and other for
all the girls. We played for one hour and a haft until each of us felt so
exhausted. Especially the writer was so worn out after football that night.
However, the program was not really finished yet. We had a
memorial meeting together at BEC the next day and followed by the last lunch
altogether. This time, Bro David exhorted us to how we should review our life
according to God purpose not to our own desire. He encouraged us to be hopeful
and thankful to God everyday though sometimes God challenges us, but everything
happens for good not for bad. Thus, we should thanks oue God every day for his
working in our daily life, provides what we need to us, and comforts us through
many brothers and sister and friends and his wonderful words the Bible when we
face problem in our lives.
May God bless each one of us and may He provides us
solution to this world problem soon. May He send his son to come back soon so
that the earth will bow down before Him and will shout to Him and praise His
great name.
Bro Veasna Big
