Last Sunday we had an ecclesial social activity. So a few people arrived and commenced preparation for the lunch... this seemed to include copious amounts of green mango being peeled and grated.
A discussion followed as to why they refuse to wait for the fruit to ripen before picking it, which when ripe it would taste so much nicer. But, despite how sour a green mango is, it seems that no one here has the patience for that!
I went back downstairs a little later to see how the mango was going... just in time to see Dany tasted the mango only to discover it was horridly sour (that’ll teach them for using green mango!) They also barbequed some fish, whole: this too was interesting to watch. I felt a little sorry for the fish as their tails were still flapping before they went on to cook... at least we know they were fresh!
After all the preparation, we had a lovely meal together and enjoyed each other’s company. Then the ecclesia sat down and discussed the what to put into action following on from the study weekend we had with Peter Heavyside a month or so ago. It was fantastic to see the ecclesia working together towards a common goal. From what I can gather (because everything was in Khmer) I think the meeting went quite well.
