Biker baptism

We were glad to witness the baptism of Top Sokun yesterday. Bro Sokun is the first of our ‘biker’ students to be baptised. With many of the dorm students present, Brother "K" presided over the baptism, quoting John 3:5 "Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God."

The ‘biker’ program was established by Bro and Sis Steve and Lynne during their time in Cambodia as a way of assisting L-CDI students who wished to study the gospel to get to the BEC three times a week. Donated bicycles allowed them to ride to and from the BEC and study with the teachers here.


Many people have contributed to this baptism. Brother Raju Devis who made first contact with the school, the Armes' and others, including the WCF, who have very generously donated large sums of money to keep the L-CDI school open over the last few years have made it possible for Sokun to choose to study the Name of Jesus Christ and the things concerning the coming Kingdom of God. While many have planted, watered and tended, it is our Father in heaven who has given the increase. Glory be to the Lord.


Sadly, since the school has been forced to move much further away, the biker program is no longer possible. Instead, BEC teachers travel out to the school and stay overnight in the school office building to teach lessons to a keen class of 15 students.


Bro Sokun is not the only biker we have been maintaining contact with since they left L-CDI. Saruon lives in the BEC, employed as a nanny and is nearing baptism. Savvy, Vichea, Chaileng and Chaileang still remain outreach students (another program that brings regional students into Phnom Penh once a month for a study weekend). Some of these students are studying as we speak with Bro Dan and Sis Keren, Brother Dan M and Brother Vitou on their visit to the province of Prey Vihear.


Now that Bro Sokun has started his walk in Christ, many challenges remain, including an isolating job which takes him out of Phnom Penh regularly. With God’s grace, Bro Sokun will grow into a mature and steadfast faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

fantastic!! that is so good for my new Brother Sokun. good on him! my our new baby brother.... I hope God Blesses and keeps our new brother walking in his paths. God Bless, and keep pumping the blogs out, it's heaps good!

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news !
