What's happening in Cambodia???

I hope this is the question you are all asking- all you Kampuchea-lovers out there-, due to the lack of blogs, for which we all here apologise. We have all been very busy, as it is coming upto the last week to three weeks for us - Jonno (leaving on the 21st), Josh and myself (leaving on the 24th) and Don and Una (leaving on the 28th). Steve and Lynne arrive on the 15th so all will be handed over to them. You can imagine the details they will need to be brought upto date on, the changes, and difference in schedule, the way things are being done here, the finances etc at the moment. These next two weeks will be a mad scramble as we pack to go to Australia, and welcome Steve and Lynne to the BEC as it is.
What has been happening? Mostly the usual things- teaching classes at LCDI, dorms and the BEC, keeping the BEC stocked and ink refilled in the whiteboard markers (thank you Uncle Don!!! :) ) and all those other little things that seem so unimportant but essential. This weekend Saruon and Channy (ex-LCDI bikers, who are now teaching in the provinces) came for studies and had many interesting questions. We are enjoying having them here. We also managed a holiday to Sianoukville( Don, Una, Josh and myself) in all that too- which was very nice.
Next weekend's usual schedule (LCDI Sunday School, Teaching Individual Students, Childrens Sunday School, Question and Answer Class, Fieldworker meeting) is all cancelled because.. we're having a Study Weekend for just the ecclesia!!! :) Which we are all looking forward to. The Studies (by Steve and Don) will be around the topic's 'Love' and 'Truth'. Saturday is a day of studies, plus a team building activity afternoon and we're having a farewell/welcome for all the BECer's that evening. Sunday will be a morning of discussion groups, with the MM in the afternoon and a sports afternoon after that. It looks like a great weekend. There is a boy at the dorms named Boren who has been studying for baptism- his teacher Jonno says that he is very close to being baptised. So perhaps by the time we go home we will have welcomed a new brother into our midst.
We said goodbye to the Children's Sunday School this morning, as it is the last time we'll see them all, which was sad.
We pray for God's continual blessing to be on the work here in Cambodia- please continue to pray also.
God bless, and hopefully Jesus will have returned before we arrive home,
Sarah

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
