Learning about God's word...

We had nine girls from the Bethezer dorm this evening at BEC for lessons. They are studying about God and Steve is trying to include English lessons in their study as well. These girls work very hard at their university as well as working to earn a small amount of money to live, so it is very difficult for them to also find time to study God's word. The girls are trying to come each evening from 6 - 7 pm as this is their only free time.

While the girls were studying Loy and Veasna were in the kitchen cooking up a delicious meal for some us to share! Brothers Vong, Long Ang, Chantouen and Veasna as well as Sis Gaye joined us for dinner and then we all enjoyed a wonderful Worship Service together. This is a tradition at BEC on Wednesday evenings so that brothers and sisters who are unable to join us on Sundays can break bread and remember our Lord.

We continue to be blessed with new students at BEC, from many interesting walks of life and often with a huge amount of commitment. One of our newest students works as a night watchman at a nearby guest house. He arrived the other day and said he wanted to study about God. We slotted him into one of our groups at 10am. At the completion of his lesson he politely asked if he may just "sit in" on all the other lessons we run from 6.30am. So now this lovely young man arrives at 6.30am after working all night and studies God's word until 11am...then goes to sleep! We were walking past the guest house the other night on our way home from dinner and here was this young man - sitting on his chair at the front gate studying, in the dim light, the lessons we had given him that day, translating and practising his reading! Commitment with a capital C!!!

We are missing our recently departed fellow fieldworkers so much...we pray that your strength will continue to be with us to encourage us. The hand of God is so strongly at work in this beautiful country.

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news !
