P2P LCDI group

G'day all back home

our group for the 1st week of prepared to preach went out to the LCDI school in Phnom Phen (capital of Cambodia)
Brother mr potent (kunthea) is the founder and director of LCDI.

The LCDI (leadership character development institute) is a series of schools (nine) around cambodia that bring people (usually late teens, early twenties) to a "school" where they learn english, character development ie confidence etc, morals and values.
the young people at the school come from very low social-ecconomic backgrounds, gangs, farms, off the street etc, and are given the chance to get out of the poverty cycle, this is because if you know english in cambodia you have a job.

on teusday our group (lindsay, carrol, tim, sarah, deb, esther, and i) minus me and lindsay (as we were on the big white phone after eating something dodgy), went out to the LCDI and introduced themslves to the students and were asked to sing songs :)

on wednesday we were in full fighing strenght and we went out and taught english (which we do a couple of mornings a week).
after a hearty luch of peanut butter sangers and bananas we go stuck into digging the students a garden.

the garden was going were a classroom was placed. so we had to demo the classroom.
this was done by lifting the posts of the shed up and then pulling so the roof comes dubling down, the only problem was the roof was attached to the classroom next to it and when they pulled the shed it was haf stuck there, so some brave soul climbed in the roof space with a sledgy and pounded at the roof until it came down, almost on him, hehe

we dug up a 10cm layer of rocks in an area the size of about 15m x 12m and was there for hrs
(michael hewitt went out and dug hole and it was soft clay, except it was in the corner where there we no rocks and he reackoned it would be an eazy job - we coulda killed him if he was there by the end of it)
we finished digging up all the rocks and got the students to good use and eventually the garen was finished

then we met up with the other city team (we called them easy company (we we abel company - as we were ready, willing and able) as they just lay in hammocks all day at the dorms, while we were slaving away digging) and we had tea and ice drinks (soooooo very refreshing)

the next day we went out and teached at the school again and then after prepared for the seminar for saturday

on friday we met up with easy company brother him and his wife and son and a young brother and elder sister and went to a zoo, 1 hour out of the city - we saw a tiger a few elepants, some winging otters and gibbons, lots of gibbons, and they were loud and so funny (i got to close to the cage and an arm shot out and grabbed my collar, and i turned and it was a crazy, foaming at the mouth monkey, trying to pull me into the cage and eat me, but i fought it off and lived to fight another day :)

the next day we had the seminar and we had the pope do a talk on demons and norm the yank do one on propecy and that was to about 50 locals -which was a great turn out
and a fab lunch with octopus and all

yesterday (sunday) our team taught at the bec (bible education center) to both the young sunday school students and to 20 lcdi students that come every sunday, we taught them about david and the promises to him and how they apply to us - ressurection, kingdom, jesus, pease and hope
afterwhich the next door neighbour cooks them a meal for lunch (the only meal with protien that they have all week - as during the week they have rice and green shoots that grow from the open sewers that run through the school)

on sunday we had the worshipservice (meeting) on the roof of the dorms and it was the most powerful emotionwise i have been (i was fighting back tears) as we had two enimies -cambodians and veitnamese (hate each other, for obvious reasons), and the brothers travelled all the way from veitnam to phnom phen for worship service and the first ever bible school (woohoo) and there were hugging and tears and three translators (haha) and two enemies embraced as one in jesus' name - and thats what its all about.

we stayed singing and talking into the night and the dormers cooked up a stormer of a feed for us, which i chowed down - twas so nice
oh and the pine apple, what about the pineapple -delish

and we went and supported the orfins last night, was cute and for a good cause

well i gotta go now as i get up real early for dorm service, and we bring wonderful news from cambodia that there are two baptisms tomorrow, belinda - brisbane and kimstraun - cambodia

so that will be held in olympic stadium with 50 dormers 40 foriners 21 veitnamese, 20 cambodian brothers and sisters and a three newzealanders :)

my love to all and god bless

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...
