We had another wonderful Saturday night seminar at the dorm last weekend with some of the new dormers present. They were all keen to hear the next installment about the new heavens and new earth that will be established at the return of our King (2Peter 3). Him does a great job of translating each week and we seem to get at least one or two new faces every Saturday, with many of the young ones bringing along friends or relatives. If only we could get such enthusiasm in Australia!!Our Worship Service was a very special one for our Cambodian brothers and sisters yesterday as it was all in Khmer! Sad to say that Steve was not feeling well enough to exhort, so brother Meng Him read his exhortation in Khmer and brother Nirann was chairman (his first time). Although we all missed Steve very much, it was a wonderful experience to see how far this ecclesia has come in such a short time! Our new young brothers from Bethezer Dorm offered prayers for the bread and wine and closed in prayer. How blessed we are to be witnessing God's hand at work among such faithful servants.
We are so happy to announce that this Sunday we will share in yet another baptism...that of So Veasna. He has been studying at BEC since the beginning and after moving to Kampong Thom province he continued studying God's word via correspondence lessons. So Veasna is part of the BEC Outreach Program which allows for contacts to return to BEC once a month, stay with us here and continue studying the Bible.
I could not let Steve's brave feat of eating spiders go unchallenged so on our recent trip to Siem Reap I actually tasted crickets (don't know what came over me!!). Actually they weren't too bad...still don't think I could try spiders just yet!
We are still missing Raju and his great sense of humour...which reminds me! While he was here we all went out to lunch one day to one of these modern shopping centres that are starting to appear in PP. This one has about 5 floors all housing many new shops. Needless to say we were a bit mesmerised by all the things to look at and we lost Raju for a while. Steve, Loy and I were looking everywhere for him when Steve called to us that he had spotted him. As Steve does - he decided we three should hide behind a shop frontage and jump out at him as he approached, as a joke. So Loy and I obediently hid behind Steve who was carefully keeping an eye on Raju as he approached. At the count of 3 we all jumped out...madly shouting and waving our hands...only to find it was not Raju at all but some poor little Asian man in the same coloured trousers!!!! He fled in the opposite direction, obviously wondering what these mad foreigners were going to do to him! Raju found this story particularly humorous for some reason.
As the opening of Bethezer Girls' Dorm approaches we ask you to think carefully and prayerfully, to see if you can spare a few dollars a week to sponsor this Christadelphian project. The dorms provide such a wonderful opportunity for us to share God's word with young people who are keen to learn. May God guide your hearts and footsteps as we wait for our Lord's return...
