Sister's Class Sihnaoukville

Saturday morning up early to take the 7 am VIP bus to Sihanoukville.  Sis Dany Yet and Sis Ratana San were accompanying me on the journey to Sihanoukville.  I was preparing to give a sister's class later that afternoon.

After a few stops we arrived in Sihanoukville.  We went for lunch, then Sis Dany hired a tuk tuk to take us to BEC 2 were we would be spending the weekend.  We arrived at the BEC to find it locked.  Sis Dany comtacted  Bro Sophorn that we had arrived.  Bro Sophorn to the rescue.  He arrived on his moto to unlock the gate and BEC for us.

We had an opportunity to relax while we were waiting for Sis Chanthy and Sis Chandrea to arrive to take us to Independence Beach where the sister's class was going to take place.  First we had to do a stop to pick up Sis Theung and some others for the sister's class.  Then off to Independence Beach.  We had a lovely spot to hold the sister's class.  There was a large table with chairs under a canopy close to the beach.  Independence Beach is on the Bay of Thailand.  It was nice to be able to share with my sister's and friends in Cambodia.  I talked about the role of Rebekah.  She was strong and courageous.  She left her family home never to see them again to marry a man she did not know.  She would have learned from Isaac about the promises to Abraham from her husband Issac.  She waited patiently for children and later had twin sons.  Two totally different children, the older a lover of the land and the younger a love for God.  She remained faithful to God and sent her younger son, Jacob off to her family to keep him from being harmed by his oldest brother Esau.  She did not know that she would not see her younger son again.

It was lovely to be able to have the sister's class at Independence Beach with the sun glistening on the sea.  We had "tea" after the sister's class.  After "tea" we went for a walk on the beach with the sun setting.  We walked out along the pier.  It was very restful to watch the sunset, hear the waves and admire God's handiwork.  We headed back to the BEC for bible seminar.

Sunday morning, Bro Savvy arrived as well as some bro and sis.  We left to go to the province for Sunday School and Sunday morning worship with Bro Savvy giving the exhortation.  It was a heartwarming experience to be able to break  bread and fellowship with my bro and sis, some not able to speak any English or just few words of English and me not able to speak Khmer.  Thank you to Sis Ratana for translating both Sat and Sun for me.

After Sunday morning worship, we went on our way and stopped in another lovely location.  Thankfully we had been able to finish lunch before the rain came.   Back to the BEC for our last night in Sihanoikville.  Bro Sophorn braved the elements and went out in the rain to fetch dinner for us.  A wonderful weekend spent with the bro, sis and friends at BEC 2 Sihanoukville.

Up early again Monday morning to take the 7 am train back to Phnom Penh.   Bro Sophorn and Srey Sov took us to the train station.  The train was a nice way to travel as we saw parts of the  country we would not see if were travelling by bus. We arrived safely back in Phnom Penh and Sis Dany once again hired a tuk tuk to take us to the BEC.

It was a very enjoyable weekend and I am thankful for the company of Sis Dany and Sis Ratana on my journey to Sihanoukville.

It is very difficult to leave Cambodia, so I hope and pray that I will be able to make the long trip from Canada back to Cambodia and spend some time with the bro and sis and help with classes and other activities. It is a very warm, loving and friendly country.  It truly was a great experience for me and am happy that God gave me the opportunity to spend time there.

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
