God continues to bless the teaching of his word in Cambodia. The harvest is ripe, and God has provided a new house of teaching and worship in the province of Siemreab - BEC3!
Initially, the ecclesia at Siemreab gathered at the home of Brother Veasna. Now with the advent of BEC3, brothers and sisters and children and friends can meet together to learn and grow in this new house.
After a long bus ride, we were up early on Saturday morning to prepare the Siemreab house for its first event - a seminar on that Saturday afternoon. Sister Loy and brethren Daran and Veasna purchased furniture for the new house with the help of some students from the dormitory in Phnom Penh. By early afternoon, the team had arranged cupboards, appliances, and even kitchen cutlery. The girls were busy preparing food for the seminar an even though people were so busy there was a lovely atmosphere of love and charity and fellowship as everybody worked together towards the same goal.
The seminar attracted around 25 people and we learned about God and his plan for the world. Afterwards we all shared some delicious food and good conversation.
After an excursion to the night markets, we enjoyed some ice-cream and hot drinks before returning to BEC3 for some much-needed rest after a busy day.
We rose early the next day for a delicious cooked breakfast before Sister Loy, Vichara, Sokhin and I headed out to Brother Veasna’s home to teach Sunday school. We stopped off along the way to pickup some baked goods - Sister Loy knows the way into a child’s heart! At first there were only half a dozen children, but then more and more and more walked over from the nearby homes. Before too long, 13 beautiful children were learning about the story of creation and enjoying their breakfast. Before saying goodbye we taught the children the English names of some animals (they’ll be speaking fluent English in no time!).
We travelled back to BEC3 for the memorial meeting where Brother Daran exhorted us by taking some lessons from Hebrews and relating some events from his life - it was Daran’s first exhortation and judging from the feedback a very good one. We shared a meal together after the meeting and were stimulated by more good conversation.
Back in Phnom Penh, God continues to bless BEC1 with more students - in just the last few weeks 15 new students have applied to learn English and the Bible. The fields are ripe for harvest, and the work is exciting. We pray that God will send more workers to the field.
