Trip to the Provinces

Well, I have to say I am thoroughly tired of sitting on buses!  But am also very thankful for the fact that Cambodia has such consistent (and well-air conditioned) transport to every province.
Jonathan and I were privileged to be invited to the province wedding of Bro Vanny & Sis Chantry.  As this wedding was to be held in Preah Vihear province (right up the top of Cambodia) we thought it would be a good opportunity to visit our brothers and sisters in isolation.  Our itinerary looked something like this (in retrospect, since plans changed to accommodate for needs):
·         Wednesday:  Visited Bro Savvy (had a memorial meeting with him), his fiancee, and Sis Vichhem in Kampong Thom
  •          Thursday:  Attended Bro Vanny & Sis Chantry's wedding in Preah Vihear
  •          Friday:  Memorial meeting with Bro Sophorn, Bro Sorphea and Sis Vichera in Preah Vihear

o   + dinner with these three and Vanny & Chantry
  •          Saturday: Visited the freshwater dolphins in Kratie
  •          Sunday:  Visited Bro Daran and Bro So Veasna in Kampong Chham.

We had met most of these brothers and sisters at the Cambodian Bible School at the beginning of our stay in Cambodia so it was truly lovely to be able to spend some time with them again.

The Fruit Ceremoney
Not really sure what this was about. The brid and groom
had to feed each set of parents (and then each other) a mouthful
fruit. This was the only ceremony at the wedding as it was really
only a reception.









Sis Vichara, Bro Sophear & Bro Sophorn
The brothers came across from Odor Meanchey for Vanny's wedding
and Sis Vichara works in Preah Vihear. We held a memorial
meeting in our room at the guest house the morning after
the wedding. Sis Vichara was able to get time off work. We were
excite to see them all again this Sunday on a visit to Phnom Penh.
Irrawaddy Dolphins
The only freshwater dolphins in the world.
These dolphins are found in the Mekong River at Kratie province.
It is estimated that there are only 30-80 Irrawaddy dolphins left.
So needless to say this was a pretty speial experience... and
worth the full day trip in the bus.
Bro Daran is doing a traineeship in surveying. His job takes
him to many different places in Cambodia. At the moment
he is based haft-way between Kratie & Memoth (in Kampong
Cham Province. Fortunately he was in Kampong Cham
capital for a meeting so we were able to meet Daran for a
couple of hours and share a memorial meeting together.

How wonderful that you managed to catch up with so many in isolation and fantastic that you joined in Vanny and Chantry's wedding. His parents must have been so excited to have you there!!! Wish we could have joined you too. Love to all - Lynne and Steve

sounds great! looks like you guys are doing a good job, especially visiting all the brothers and Sisters in Isolation. I know it's very hard for them. God Bless in all your doing.

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news !
