The Zoo & Mountain

At 6:20am early morning, brother Tut Tuk Tuk driver picked us up and took us to the dorms, with a short pit stop at ABC bakery because us westerners are fat (the donuts were finished by the time we got to the dorms). So the bus trip began, about 10 minutes into the trip the large group of Khmer boys at the back of the bus started singing, they would sing for a minute then burst into laughter and then do it all again, it was good to see there fun loving spirit come right out. After about 1.5 hours we arrived at the first destination, it was a big mountain with an old temple on the top. Naturally, the boy challenged me to a race and if you know me you will know I love a challenge, so it was on. a few of them started sprinting up but soon ran out of steam, with determination I pushed my way to the front and 833 stairs later I reached the top first by a long way. Jonny forgot his age and also tried but I am told he had to stop with some miner hart problems, good try though Jonny.
At the top we all just relaxed and walked around looking at the temple, a dormer called Sokea and I noticed a large tree overhanging the edge of the mountain so we went over to it and I climbed up and out, they all looked very worried and told me to come down, Sokea didn’t want to look like a girl so he slowly made his way up but he was very frightened. It was funny to see because these people sit on the top of buses going 100kmh but where afraid of a simple tree climb. Brother Sam’s day was made when he saw a wild monkey at the top, simple minds.

Then it was time to go so we all started our descent down the mountain, because I won the first race the bys thought they would challenge me once again but racing down the mountain proved to be a bit more dangerous. As soon as they set the challenge, I took off like a bull at a gate, once I had some momentum it occurred to me the it might be hard to slow down, after dodging a few small children I decided that it was getting to steep and I was losing control, I think they were thinking the same thing and we all stopped and walked the rest of the trip.

Back on the bus for the next part the trip to the zoo, it took us about 45 minutes to get there and it was about lunch time so as soon as we got there a few of the older dormers and Bong Theavy got lunch out witch they had got up very early to prepaid, it was a very nice meal as usual and there was plenty of food to go around, after we had eaten we all split up and went looking at the animals. There was a wide range of animals from birds to tigers and the zoo was very spread out so we dd not get to see all the animals.

Sokea and I spent all our time climbing the large rocks and once we reached the top we would stop and get our breath back while having a good chat, we spent most of the day together and we really strengthened our friend ship, it was very good to get to know them outside of our usual learning environment. By the time we got back on the bus we were all dead, lot of people just went to sleep but for the people that stayed awake Jonny had a bible trivia prepared, he divided the bus in half and everyone got into it and had a good time while getting them thinking about the bible knowledge. On the hole I think the day was great, everyone had a fun and our relationships only got stronger

God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news ! We raced through many more quotes and I had expected to strug...

Maybe I'm just a girl

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. It's quite a amusing to peek through the window and see James out on the balcony wa...
