This weekend has been a busy and exciting one. We have had our monthly outreach programme here; this time the studies were on the promises, starting with the promise in Genesis 3:15 about the snake and the woman's seed, and what this meant, and how the snake would inflict a temporary wound but Christ would crush sin. Brother Dy did a great job. Some of my students that would normally have a lesson with me on Saturday morning joined in with the outreach group and really enjoyed it. Next up was Brother So Veasna, doing Part I on the promises to Abraham: where Abraham lived and how he travelled to the land of Israel, and the promises that God made to him. Part II followed in the afternoon, led by Brother Him.

On the Saturday evening we all went to the dorm and David continued his seminar series that he has been doing on God, this time on the nature of God. The normal crowd of 60 or so people was there, including a number of new faces, which was very encouraging to see. Once David finished his talk everyone broke up into groups and discussed some questions about the seminar, and then we all had dinner together.

On Sunday morning there were two more studies for the outreach students, the first on the promises to David, led by Brother Myna. Firstly he discussed who David was and then what God promised him and also how there was a kingdom of God in the past and how God stopped it because the people were to wicked and that he would give it to Jesus when he returned. The last session was a summary of all the promises and a bunch of questions to answer. Everyone who came seemed to really enjoy their weekend.

Savvy baptised!





To end a fantastic weekend we witnessed the Savvy being baptised. Savvy was one of the original biker students that used to come to the old BEC; once he left LCDI he came to the outreach weekends, and in recent months he has been tripping from Preah Vihear every weekend to have studies because he is so keen to be baptised. He was very excited, so much so that he couldn't sleep the night before, and so it was great to see this finally take place.

Also, in case anyone missed out on the news, a few weeks ago Bong Sokun, our cook at the BEC, was baptised in Adelaide in the freezing waters at Glenelg beach. The following day Sister Gaye and Brother Dan's were married. I seems odd reporting what's been happening in Australia on the Cambodia BEC blog!

Well, dear Readers, Things have been busy here with preparation for our seminar this weekend. Catering, printing, emailing and phoning have been occupying our hours. James is sitting opposite me on the table working on his talks for Friday. We have had quite a number of bookings for our seminar and the numbers have only been limited by the size of our premises. God willing, all will attend and we’ll have a good two days of talks and chatting. We’re planning, God willing, a boat cruise as our social activity and that should be a blast since we can have a 2 hour cruise for 50 people for only $20. Have managed to hook up skype credit and tested a mobile call to Prydie. The 5 second lag meant it was like having two random monologues in the same room. The prices was fairly reasonable, but even as 3 cents a minute the cost climbs. James spends much time out on the balcony. He gets good wireless reception. God Proves the Power of Prayer Again and Again

Over the course of my five-month long Cambodia trip I had the opportunity to teach class es at the Bethezer girl dorm regularly . For th ese class es I have a translator so I just get to teach the good news ( none of this dilly-dallying about English teaching ). Our topic on this particular night was prayer. Philippians 4:6 reminded us that God is longing to hear from us just as a father lo ves to hear from his child or how we are just hanging out to get a message from someone we love. We looked at H is promises to answer ALL our prayers while we abide in Jesus Christ (John 15:7) and at Psalm 34:4 where God confidently affirms that when you find your happiness with God, H e will certainly give you more of what makes you happy (Him!). And you can pray for that happiness because God will give you anything that brings you closer to Him so never be afraid to ask! That is nothing but i ncredibly good news !
