We had a wonderful morning in Phnom Penh today as about 50 of us boarded the
Sereyrath on the Mekong River to welcome another son into the family of God. The ecclesia here now comprises 20 members! Although the sun was not shining in the natural world it certainly was in our hearts, as we shared love and laughter in
ant

icipation of Sophea's baptism. We travelled across the Tonle Sap into the Mekong and found a grassy place to stop for Him and K to share words of love and encouragement before immersing Sophea in the saving name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ to the glory of the Father. Traditionally, everyone burst forth into song with
This is the Day - sung in English first and then Khmer.

Following the baptism, bro Steve gave us a wonderful message from 2 Kings about the baptism of Naaman...concluding with these words:
Today w
e have seen another man turn his back on the love of other gods. Just like Naaman, Sophea has found courage to turn away from foolish kings and the ideas of men to face God, and follow His son. He joins others who have also chosen to serve truth and walk in love. We will walk beside him.
After such a wonderful spiritual meal, we had a delicious lunch prepared by Theavy and many helpers from the Bethezer dorm.
Today was not only a special day for Sophea, but also gave us t

he opportunity to witness, to many of the students who study at BEC, our faith and belief. Many of these contacts were inspired to continue their study with the hope of also being baptised in the future. May God be with them as His word opens their eyes and may He bless us also as teachers and instruments for His truth.
