Well, well, well... Time has flown past during a flurry of activity, here in the centre of Cambodia- the BEC.
Brother Don and Sister Una Strempel (Adelaide) have arrived, safe and sound, fresh from Bangaladesh- physically tired, but still full of energy for spiritual things and Cambodia (especially Uncle Don- I'm not sure that even Jonno can keep up with him!!), they've already completed a lot of great work here. There's a lot you can learn from people older than you- a lot of wisdom and experience in years.
This weekend is THE weekend- 7 Outreach Students arrived, (4 are sleeping at the BEC, and 3 are sleeping at the Bethezer funded Dormitories) plus Brother So Veasna (last name first) in from the provinces for the weekend(also staying at the dorms), a full morning of seminars tomorrow, plus all the usual students, and preparing and organising for the Seminar tomorrow! We have indeed been busy this week.
The 7 Outreach students that have come from the provinces, come once a month for a weekend full of Bible teaching. 3 of them have been coming for a long time, and the other four are from LCDI, who have been doing teacher training out in the provinces. We've been taking them through the excellent booklet 'God's Plan With Man'. Uncle Don taught them this morning, and Josh taught them for 2 hours in the afternoon. Tonight they are at the Dorms, at the Saturday Night Mini Seminar. They will attend the Seminar tomorrow, and then leave to go back to the provinces in the afternoon. They're great students, and we always look forward to seeing them every month.
This week, we've rung over 400 students (current and not-so-current) and invited them to the Seminar this weekend- it took 5 hours, but has been well worth the effort- 31 have confirmed they're coming, plus there will be all of the Dorm students (43 all up, I believe), plus 10 students from LCDI school, plus the local brothers and sisters, and us- the BECers. I've cancelled Sunday School for this week, so we can have all hands on deck for tomorrow morning. We will need to record every student that attends, and update their information in the 'Contact Database' (the fantastic record keeping computer programme that Brother James Rassmussen created).
Brother Don, and Brother Jonno will be doing the talks at the Seminar on the authenticity of the Bible.
What else has been happening? Sisters Una, Loy, and Kuntheavy went to Kam Pong Cham province on Friday to visit Sister Sithy who has been staying with her mum for a while after she had Sithywann (Nirran and Sithy's baby), so it was good to hear news that they were all well. Poor Loy was sick for the 3 hour long car trip on the way there. She gets bad motion sickness. Aunty Una made her some ginger tea at Sithy's and Loy was fine on the return trip.
